We have found each other and that is great!
We make each other smile
Iain had come over to Australia from UK and did not know many Australians. I’d always been quite reserved around people I did not know, but had had enough of being single girl when most of friends were paired off happily.
My cousin took a lovely picture of me and I spent a big deal of time creating and recreating my profile until I was absolutely happy with the right balance of seriousness and jokes that represented me well. I read over carefully it to check for mistakes, as I got a hope to meet someone as critical as I am about grammar and spelling! I believe I included ‘must know the difference between you and you are’ phrase. Some things are very important.
In the first several weeks I received enough attention, but a lot of the guys who sent me messages did not match what I was seeking for in a mate at all. Had they even pestered to read over my profile? So soon I decided to put a password on my picture so it was not visible. I was happier much with this, and felt that those only who had read the profile and were interested by this view into my personality were responding. After I went on a big number of meetings before I met him. In reality, I had given up on Match.com after about 7 months of useless dates and then had gone back on after a break of two months with my lowered expectations, thinking it can be nice to make just a new friend.
Then Iain sent me an e-mail. I read his profile and something in it made me think that we had the same sense of humor. That moment I responded to his email, but while I expected for him to meet, I re-read Iain’s profile and started to be anxious. Had I read enough into it? Did we have anything in common in reality?
However, his e-mail and parts of it actually made me loudly laugh out, as did his following emails as we communicated via the internet for a week or so (probably he had wrote and rewrote to make them enough funny and check for grammatical mistakes and typos too). Then we sent texts by texts before he called me up and finally I got to listen to Iain lovely Scottish accent. We agreed a drinks date that turned to be a dinner date, and though a little nervous and shy at first, both of us made each other smile. This is the most important thing. As we continued to get known each other better, we realized we had enough in common and had a shared outlook on a lot of things. We continued also to make each other smile.
Iain and I have been together since January 2010 and we were married in June 2011. We both feel so happy to have met each other and have never been luckier.
