Male sex pest posed as a lesbian on online dating site to meet girls but was caught when the girl whose picture he used as a profile photo found out

A man called Luke Potter created fake lesbian dating profiles of two women after saving images from their personal Facebook pages because he wasn’t having any luck as himself.

The 20-year-old arranged to meet his dates, just months after he appeared in court for asking teenage girls to send him naked pictures of themselves.

Potter was caught by police after giving one of his potential dates his phone number.

Potter, who is already on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years, admitted twice breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order and was given a three-year community order with supervision.

North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Stoke-on-Trent heard Potter told his potential dates to wear short skirts and tight tops ahead of meeting up.

Carla Harris, prosecuting, said friends of one of the women whose details Potter had used to create a profile contacted him, at which point he asked the girls if they would meet him in Hanley.

Potter’s latest court appearance comes after he appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in April after pleading guilty to attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming.

Potter was already subject to a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order after attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming.

Defending Potter, Angela Trafford, said the women Potter had targeted were all adults and “the only thing he’s done wrong is use a false name”.

Ms Potter said: “Had he used his own name, none of these things would have breached the rules. He gave the female his own number. It was unsophisticated.”

”It is refreshing to hear him say there’s something wrong and that he needs assistance. He said he doesn’t want to hurt anybody. He needs help.”

Potter was also ordered to complete the Sexual Offender Work Programme, undertake 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £60 costs.
